Everything Durango asks us about buckets, smells, pickups and what actually happens to your scraps.
All food scraps are welcome: fruit and vegetable scraps, meat, bones, dairy, coffee grounds, eggshells, and leftovers. Please keep out plastic, metal, animal waste and rubber - those spoil the whole batch.
Choose a plan, and your clean five-gallon bucket arrives at your doorstep within 7 to 14 days, sawdust included. Fill it through the week, set it at the curb by 8am on your recycling day, and we swap it for a fresh clean bucket. That is the whole routine.
Residential service is $7 per week - $28 per month for weekly pickup, or $18 per month for every-other-week - plus a one-time setup fee. Compost Kiosk access is $5.50 per week or $22 per month. Qualifying low-income households get 90% of the subscription covered.
Nope. We provide the five-gallon bucket and the sawdust that keeps it clean and low-odor. Every pickup, your full bucket is swapped for a freshly cleaned one.
Far less than you expect. A few handfuls of the included sawdust after each addition keeps moisture and odor down, and because we swap your bucket for a clean one every week, nothing sits around long enough to get funky.
We serve Durango and the surrounding La Plata County region on your regular recycling day. Outside the pickup area? Use one of our Compost Kiosks - West of Durango, Florida Road, or our newest location in Pagosa Springs - and drop scraps on your own schedule.
The best part of membership: residential subscribers receive two free 7.5-gallon deliveries of finished compost every year, brought right to your door. Order one at a time or both at once through your customer portal.
Composting belongs to everyone. If your household qualifies for the City of Durango Food Tax Rebate or Utility Refund, our equity program covers 90% of your subscription. Email us and we will get you set up.

They are composted locally into a living soil amendment certified by the US Composting Council’s Seal of Testing Assurance, then returned to the farms and gardens of the Four Corners - including your own garden, if you claim your dividends.
Food rotting in a landfill releases methane, a greenhouse gas over 80 times more powerful than carbon dioxide in its first 20 years. Composted instead, the same scraps store carbon in living soil. About 40% of what our region landfills is organic matter - it is the single easiest thing to fix.
A little. Check our Holiday Schedule page before a holiday week so your bucket never misses its ride.
Of course. Manage your subscription through the customer portal, or email info@tabletofarmcompost.com and we will take care of it - no hoops, no hard feelings.
Absolutely. Our artisan compost and soil blends are available to everyone in the shop. Subscribers just get it a little sweeter: 10% off all bagged products.
